My Kooky Cookie

Man, I am so in love with my little guy. He is talking and understanding more and more everyday. It's incredible the progress he can make in a week. His repeat switch is currently set on. Which is darling and scary. :) I feel like he has the most darling nuances that make him so fabulously him and nothing he does or says is short of anything but genius. I am sure reality is I am Mom and I am goo goo over my baby boy. But he just is so wonderfully corky! Right now some things that he is big on are; Playing with his fingers. Daddy taught him to hold all fingers up and touch on finger at a time and make a silly noise. He now does it all the time in his car seat to keep himself entertained on drives. Also, Tunnels. Yes, tunnels. He lives for them and gets so excited and is starting to find them in everyday life. Like his closet is now his tunnel. If it is a walking tunnel he will play in it for a really long time, running back and forth, making funny noises. Or driving in the car he'll put his hands up and squeal as if it's an intense roller coaster ride. So silly.  He still loves his animals and is getting to were he likes to act them out. Tiger is the most popular on his rotation.

 Another thing he is into are two of his stuffed animals. He has a lot of stuffed animals but for some reason these have stolen his heart. And they have to be arranged just perfectly and he loves to separate them and then arrange them perfectly again. Such a goof.

He is also starting to sing along to songs. It is the SWEETEST thing ever! The first two songs he attempted were The Beatles songs. I guess I picked the right name or I listen to them way to much. :) (The songs were Good Day Sunshine, and Blackbird) He is also so into water slides. Slides are really great too, but water slides are the coolest thing out there and cannot get enough, He also does this squaty walk in the water and says "swim, swim, swim" I am pretty sure he thinks he is swimming. Something new he is saying that melts me every times he says it, is he will get his blankie and hold it up to me to pick he and the blankie up and he says "Snuggles" And cutest part is he means it. He really wants to snuggle and this usually includes having his tummy or back rubbed or the deals off. (Mommy note) The other day he was doing something naughty and acting out and got in trouble. After a minute of sulking he went and found his blankie and brought it to me and said "Snuggles" Suddenly I didn't care if he colored on the walls or whatever thing it was that he was doing. One more silly thing that he is into is his shadow. He loves to try to make a bird or alligator and is endlessly interested in whatever shape Marc or I can come up with. He is a totally climber. Doesn't want me to get him out of his crib. He says "Baby do" But then can't do it, which I am grateful for, and then he'll let me get him out. But he's always hanging from something. 

We had a sleep over at grandmas while Marc was out of town. I could never get sick of waking up to this.

He was filling this tunnel with all this toys he could get his hands on. He was even trying to cram me in there with it all. 

I LOVE to see this kid hungry. It almost never happens. I am usually trying to stuff food down his throat. He could not wait for his little pizza to finish. So anxious!

First time on the carousel. He was pretty mad when the ride ended and he spotted the tiger and realized he wasted his ride on the zebra. 

That's one way to cool off. It was so hot at the zoo. Jude started off with a little splashing and next thing I knew it was a full body rub. Why not?

The Big Apple

We were so so fortunate to spend a week in the greatest american city, New York City. It blew our minds how much we loved it with a child. We park hopped from park to park. New York has some GREAT children's parks. I am assuming that is due to the fact that no one has a backyard or a big space for child entertainment. It paid off for us. We stayed in a darling little place on the Upper East side. We adored it and Jude quickly adapted the phase "New York City house" By the last few days he knew which building was ours and would run to the door before us, open the door hit the button on the elevator and run to our door. He loved the place and was excited EVERY single time we rode the elevator.We thought we would have him sleep in the main bedroom and us on the fold out couch. That first night, we couldn't settle our minds until we anxiously snuck into his room with him. We are such softies. He is very into Yellow right now and he has noticed yellow cars at home and been excited over them so I was dying to see his reaction to the yellow cars in NYC. He would just repeat yellow car over and over. It was so cute. We arrived Monday afternoon and just spent sometime at the great park across from our "NYC house" Then we explored Central Park for a little bit. Jude loved the playgrounds in there. He is still so into slides and the bigger, faster, twistier the better. The next day (Tuesday) we hurried down to Brooklyn Bridge. I have a thing for bridges and The Brooklyn Bridge is by far my fav!! Then we park hopped a little bit and rode the Subway. Jude loved it when we weren't on it too long. He is a wiggly toddler and wanted to explore and touch everything. We ended our night at Times Square and had to go into the Toys R Us there. They have a huge Ferris wheel inside and HUGE dinosaur that roars and scares most of the children in there. Now Jude has picked up a huge fascination with dinosaurs. Wednesday we toured The Village and again spent time park hopping. They have such killer parks. Then we cruised down and had lunch on the Hudson. Luckily there is no shortage of hot dogs in NYC, one of the few foods Jude actually will eat. Then we decided to rent bikes. This totally changed the trip for us. It made the city seem so much more accessible and manageable. We brought Jude's bike seat from home and strapped it on and we were off. I couldn't believe what I was seeing at times. Marc would be cruising in between buses and Taxis and Jude just chillin on the front as content as could be and his momma about to freak out behind him. That first night we biked about 17 miles with Jude on the front stopping at a park and for food is all. The next day we cruised Jude up to the Bronx zoo. We felt like we had to. This kid loves animals too much not to. We threw him in his backpack and hopped on the train and were there before we knew it. He loved it. And it wore him out. We spent the evening on the bikes again and went just as far if not further exploring the Village and Soho, then spent dinner in Union square.Our last day was Friday and felt we had to take Jude on a boat ride and see the statue of Liberty, even though he won't remember it. Just felt like it was a must. He loved the boat and loved running around Liberty Island. We then toured Wall street real fast then ended our night again on the bikes and saw all of Manhattan and Brooklyn Heights. Jude did amazing. We were so impressed with him and loved that we were able to have this amazing trip with just our little family. We bonded so much and just truly had an amazing time!! There isn't one thing that I would have changed. It was perfect.

Jude Was a dream on the flights and for the first time ever slept a lot on the last and longest leg of the trip. He did wake up for a brief second upset and requesting a sucker but quickly went back to sleep.
